Product description:

Algavite is based on a special combination of red and brown algae, which have a high content of biopolymers, polyphenols and oligoelements.

Assessa can definitely be called a pioneer in the field of algae research in Brazil, and in this case they also pay very strong attention to sustainability and social compatibility.

Let us now turn to the scalp, because unfortunately this is an area of the skin that is particularly intensively exposed to external stress factors such as heat, solar radiation, mechanical or chemical stress. This is particularly critical in this case, as a negative impact on the scalp also directly affects the health of the hair.

To prove the cosmetic efficacy of Algavite, Assessa first carried out an extensive transcriptomic analysis to investigate which genomes are affected by the active ingredient. A particular focus was of course on genomes linked to the integrity and health of the scalp and hair.

The result of the study was that Algavite stimulates a variety of genes linked to skin soothing, wound healing, skin barrier strengthening, epidermal integrity or desmosome expression.

The skin-soothing effect was then investigated more specifically in vitro and it was shown that Algavite significantly reduces the expression of nitric oxide or inflammatory mediators such as IL-6 or IL-1β.

Furthermore, there is an indication in vitro that Algavite could also have a positive influence on hair growth, because a stimulation of the dermal papilla could be proven in vitro.

In the clinical study, the influence on scalp oiliness, scalp moisturisation and scalp inflammation was then investigated.

In each case, a complete care programme consisting of shampoo, rinse-off conditioner and leave-on lotion was applied. In the active ingredient group, shampoo and conditioner contained 1% Algavite and the lotion 3%. Due to the very short contact time of the shampoo and conditioner, it can be assumed that the efficacy is largely achieved via the lotion.

With regard to oiliness, an absolute reduction of almost 15% was achieved after 30 days, which could even be increased to almost 20% after 90 days. This corresponds to a 4 - 5-fold effect compared to the placebo.

Despite the surfactant treatment, the skin moisturisation could be increased by almost 7% after 30 days, which means a 10-fold effect compared to the placebo.

The negative influence of the surfactants on skin irritation is clearly shown, as irritation increased by as much as 3% after 30 days with the placebo. With Algavite, this development was completely reversed and despite the surfactant treatment, the inflammation of the scalp decreased by 6%.

In summary, we can say that with Algative we have a great maritime concept that soothes and moisturises the scalp even with intensive head/hair care and at the same time helps to significantly reduce oiliness.
