Charcoal-C Powder 200 is activated charcoal based on coconuts. For the production, coconuts is first burned and then the resulting charcoal is "activated". 
 
The activation is done by treating the charcoal with water vapour. As a result, the fine powder has a very strong porous structure, which increases its surface area and absorption capacity.
 
Compared to "normal" charcoal, activated charcoal has up to five times the absorption capacity. KPT has also investigated this with the Charcoal Powder 200 by measuring the iodine absorption capacity.
 
The function of activated charcoal is widely used and known in cosmetics. Due to the extremely high absorption capacity of activated charcoal, it binds dirt particles, blackheads, sebum and harmful deposits on the skin excellently. Consequently, these can be easily removed and a cleansing effect is achieved.
 
During cleansing, dirt that has been removed can often have a visually unpleasant effect on the consumer. Activated charcoal, thanks to its pitch-black colour, can be beneficial here as well, as it visually masks the dirt, does not cause any negative sensations and ultimately makes the skin or teeth feel fresher and clearer after the first application. Oily, shiny skin and hair are also mattified.
 
Last but not least, there are almost no allergic reactions from activated charcoal and it is both odourless and tasteless.
 
Consequently, activated charcoal is suitable for use in any cleansing concept, oily skin, shower gels, soaps or toothpastes. Since men are usually more affected by oily skin and hair, activated charcoal is particularly recommended here.
