Product description:

Flower Power Hibiscus is the extract of the hibiscus plant, which is additionally encapsulated with polymers of acacia gum.

Hibiscus Sabdariffa is a plant of the mallow family that has been native to Africa for thousands of years. It is also known as "roselle" or "African mallow."

The hibiscus plant is already widely used and, for example, the leaves are used in food and the fibers of the plant are used in textiles. In China, the oil of the seeds is found in other applications.

Extensive biological activity of Hibiscus Sabdariffa can already be found in the literature. Sources report anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, cholesterol reducing properties, among others. Other sources also report skin strengthening activities such as anti-elastase and anti-collagenase.

Hibiscus flowers have high concentrations of organic acids such as citric, hydroxycitric, malic and tartaric acids. There are also mucilages, pectins and carbohydrates of arabinan group.

From the cosmetic point of view, Flower Power Hibiscus helps against visible aging of the skin and the aging of cells. A phenomenon that occurs here is the formation of senescent cells.

Senescent cells are cells that no longer perform their normal functions, especially collagen production, and refuse to die. These cells also lose their function of cell division, hinder tissue regeneration and can also affect neighboring healthy cells.

External factors, such as stress, damage a cell and normally lead to cell death and simultaneous elimination of the cell. This is also the signal for the formation of new cells. If this process is disturbed, a senescent cell is formed and remains in the skin.

With increasing aging, the number of senescent cells increases and the result is, among other things, visible skin aging.

Important enzymes in this context are SIRT-1 and SIRT-3. Activation of SIRT-1 suppresses the aging of important cells such as those of the dermal fibroblasts, which are responsible for the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. SIRT-3 regulates mitochondrial activity and thus has a protective effect against aging and cell degeneration.

In senescent fibroblasts, it was shown that the expression of SIRT-1 and SIRT-3 could be increased by using Flower Power Hibiscus. In addition, an increase in collagen synthesis was observed.

Lastly, the effect of Flower Power Hisbiscus on the growth rate of young fibroblasts compared to senescent fibroblasts was investigated. Addition of Flower Power Hibiscus greatly increased the activity of senescent fibroblasts to match that of young cells.

In summary, with Flower Power Hibiscus we have a potential encapsulated active ingredient with high biological activity for the care of aged skin.
