Product description:

With the two raw materials Hydriol PGMO.4 and Hydriol PGLO.4 we can offer you very exciting O/W emulsifiers from our Swiss partner Hydrior.

In the O/W area, Hydrior mainly relies on Polyglyceryl-4 oleates, whereby these differ in their HLB value and this is a very important aspect.

Basically, Hydrior's emulsifiers combine very many advantages and we have skin-compatible, environmentally friendly, very compatible, stable emulsifiers, with low intrinsic odor, great sensory properties, low color and easy handling.

In terms of skin feel, the very low stickiness, due to the excellent substantivity, and the great smoothing effect are particularly noteworthy.

Another special feature is that Hydrior deliberately offers pure emulsifiers without premixing with stabilizers or thickeners. This offers a much higher degree of flexibility, as individual aspects of the formulation can be deliberately influenced. Furthermore, this approach saves costs, reduces raw material requirements, offers more transparency for raw material composition and creates less manufacturer dependency.

Polyglyceryl-4 oleates from Hydrior are also capable of producing stable formulations with various oils, although in individual cases the addition of an anionic surfactant can help to increase the charge potential of the oil droplets.

As mentioned in the introduction, the emulsifiers differ primarily in their HLB value and this has two specific consequences. Firstly, the HLB value provides information about the hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity of a raw material, and consequently the Hydriol PGMO.4 with its lower HLB value is clearly more lipophilic and can thus be dissolved in oils without any problems. In the case of the more hydrophilic Hydriol PGLO.4, complete solution in the fatty phase may then already not occur.

In the case of Polyglycerol-esters, the HLB value usually also provides information about the degree of esterification, because with higher esterification our raw material becomes more hydrophobic and thus we have a lower HLB value. However, the higher degree of esterification then also means a larger and more complex molecule, which in the end is also noticeable in the texture.

In the case of Polyglyceryl-4 oleate, the emulsifiers with a lower HLB value create a richer skin feel, while the more hydrophilic variants impart a lighter sensory feel.
