Orange Peel Wax is a natural, soft wax extracted from the peel of the orange fruit after it has been separated from the essential oils of the orange and the terpenes of the citrus fruit. The wax protects the fruit from environmental influences while allowing it to breathe and maintain its water balance. 
 
The composition and consistency are similar to lanolin. It can replace lanolin in many formulations. 
 
Orange Peel Wax consists of a complex mixture of special esters (approx. 50-65 %, C44-C58), free fatty acids (6-15 %, C14-C22), hydrocarbons (8-15 %, C21-C33), free phytosterols (approx. 4-8 %) and free alcohols. 
 
In addition, Orange Peel Wax contains small amounts of flavonoids, carotenoids, glycolipids and phospholopids, which are known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and sun-protective properties. 
 
The phytosterols in Orange Peel Wax act as co-emulsifiers and contribute to emulsion stability. Orange Peel Wax is an emollient wax with excellent skin feel that contributes to barrier function, sun protection enhancement and moisture regulation, and provides protection to human skin and hair similar to that of fruit.
