Rice Bran Wax
Product description:
This hard, crystalline, high-melting natural vegetable wax is extracted from rice husks. It consists of very long-chain saturated C46-C62 esters of C20-C36 fatty alcohols and C20-C26 fatty acids.
 
Rice bran wax serves as a consistency agent in pencils and emulsions (W/O and O/W). It helps to thicken the formulation by forming a rigid structural network of wax crystals that improves oil binding, softness and film formation. It also helps to improve lubricity.
 
In sticks, rice bran wax contributes to hardness, texture, strength and mould release.
 
Rice bran wax can be used as a (partial) substitute for carnauba and candelilla wax in many formulations. Rice bran wax has very strong oil-gelling properties and relatively low wax concentrations are required. Koster Keunen's special quality rice branwax is almost white and has a very low odour.
